Soneva Fushi Resort, the first Robinson Crusoe style hideaway in the Maldives, is set on the privately owned, uninhabited, tropical paradise island of Kunfunadhoo. Kunfunadhoo at 1,400 meters long and almost 400 meters wide, is one of the largest islands in the Maldives. Apart from the crystal clear waters, for which the Maldives is world-renowned, the island's unusually rich vegetation provides a unique nature experience. Villas and rooms are scattered along the beach and tucked into the lush greenery, providing the ultimate in privacy. The sheer size of the island allows an enjoyable exploration by bicycle or an energetic run on one of Soneva Fushi's hidden jogging trails.
Soneva Fushi, it should be said straightaway, is the finest resort in the Maldives. Indeed it is gaining a reputation as one of the finest resorts in the South and South-East Asia region. It is that good. Inevitably it is as expensive as you would expect such a place to be. But if you really wish to experience the best of nature combined with excellence in design, this is it.

- Accomodation Overview
Probably most native palms, trees and bushes are here. It is an education and pleasure to explore along the few sandy paths that cut through it. And bicycles are provided to do just that. If that wasn't enough, this enormous island has sand all the way around it, narrowing in a few spots and broadening at the two ends. With the rooms on one side and only the Dive Center on the other, you can pretend to be Robinson Crusoe all day, and be just as shocked when you find some other footprints.
In fact, it's as if Robinson Crusoe came to the Maldives and opened a resort. Everything here has a handmade look, it is all beautifully finished but not varnished. Many things appear to be "found", such as the bamboo strapped together to make armchairs and tables or the slices of branch for coasters. And all the materials are from nature: coir, cotton, coral, cad Jan and clay. A simple but telling example is the absence of the ubiquitous white plastic sun lounger; here it is solid wood with a cotton filled and covered mattress.

The Fresh in the Garden Restaurant is near Cinema Paradiso and the tennis court. You will traverse organic fruit and herb gardens, and then climb broad winding stairs to a rope bridge that spans the banana plantation. A panoramic westerly aspect over the gardens and surrounding jungle will afford spectacular views of the sunset.

(Can be opened daily, except Tuesdays) The lunch is purely composed from our organic grown island produce, Maldivian seafood, fruit and vegetables.
Alternatively try a cooking class with our chef in the vegetable garden, where you can enjoy learning about Asian cuisine, and cook your culinary creations using the fresh herbs and spices available at your fingertips. Since we like our classes to be spontaneous, we offer a glass of wine or two to make the cooking a little less stressful!

Soneva Fushi evolves again to bring something new to the table. Always looking to enhance the culinary experiences the resort is pleased to introduce a Peruvian and Japanese fusion culinary adventure. The menu draws heavily on classic Japanese food with South American influences.
The main inspiration was to focus on the amazing quality of the raw ingredients already abundant in the Maldives such as the local fish delivered daily to the jetty along with some of the organic produce from the garden.
To ensure the hotel got the authenticity correct the hotel is pleased to be able to work with Toshiro Konishi, Japanese born who emigrated to Peru in 1975.
His restaurant in Lima has for many years attracted positive reviews and acclaim as one of the best Sushi restaurants in the world.
You can now try some of his signature dishes and an array of subtle assorted Sashimi, a variety of hand made Niguiri sushi or Maki sushi rolls. Try Toshiro’s special Peruvian Ceviche’s.
With these tempting dishes the resort have also brought to you a selection of the finest Japanese sakes to enjoy, chilled or warm, plum wines and a fine selection of South American wines for your pleasure from Argentina and Chile.Sense by the Beach, is located on the sunset side of the island and is open for dinner.

To appreciate the real Soneva way of life, or if you require a custom-tailored programme, you may contact the resorts In Villa Dining Manager or Executive Chef (ext: 3268) for suggestions.
The resorts in villa team also acts as the reservation centre for the various food and beverage activities. The in villa dining team is very mobile, and the resort can cater to most of the resorts guest needs at virtually any location. The sandbank dinners are without doubt a unique experience, but do not forget the resorts garden lunches or cooking classes arranged by the resorts in villa dining team.

The main bar is an oasis of calm for reading, a board game, a relaxed game of snooker, recuperation from strenuous spa treatments or even a wi-fi hot spot for sending an email. As the sun sets it becomes an idyllic setting for cocktails and conversation.
The best selection of spirits and liqueurs are available within the resorts stylish white and brown bar “….So Spiritual”. Peruse through one of the biggest collections of spirits within the Maldives.
The resort offer an extensive variety of food throughout the day, not forgetting the cheese and ham gourmet room.
The resort offer cocktail classes at midday in wet weather; this can also be arranged at any other time with your Guest Relations officer.
Whisky tasting is held at 9.30pm hosted by the resorts sommelier, and can be arranged by reservation for other times, everyday except Tuesday. Please make a reservation with your Guest Relations Officer one day prior.

- The Cellar
Soneva Fushi has gained worldwide recognition for the unique selection of wines available on this tiny island in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Adjacent to Sense by the Beach restaurant, the resorts subterranean Wine Cellar holds up to seven thousand bottles in climate controlled peace.
Cellar visits
At your convenience with 20mins notice. the resort open the cellar for the guests to pick their favourite bottle with the assistance of the resorts Sommelier. Choose any wine and the resort will arrange for it to be served anywhere on the island.
Wine Tastings
Every day, except Tuesday and Saturday, from 6.30pm (minimum of six guests) (Please confirm your reservation the day before)
Explore some of over 700 different labels at a wine tasting in the cellar. Six wines are tasted together with an assortment of amuse bouche. Join the resorts Sommelier in the cellar for an extended aperitif and find something similar, familiar, or broaden your horizons with something new.
* these evenings are an interactive discussion of six bottles with selected canapés to match the wines and the resorts location. It is all the more enjoyable for the diversity of interests that gather around the tasting table. Thus, a minimum of six guests will have confirmed a reservation with Guest Relations before a tasting will go ahead. Cancellations after 3pm on the day of the tasting will be charged at sixty US dollars per guest.
Wine Dinners
Every day, with a minimum of four guests from 7pm (Please confirm your reservation the day before). For these indulgent dinners the menus are written after bottles have been selected. the resort create a suitable dish to match both the wine and your occasion. the resorts Executive Chef and Sommelier will arrange to meet with you the day before to discuss your preferences for the menu and wines.

A refreshing menu of holistic and traditional treatments conducted by highly skilled therapists using all-natural products compliments the Six Senses signature journeys in addition to Thai, Balinese and doctor-assisted Ayurvedic and nutritional programmes. Nestled among the treetops, this circular meeting room with a meeting table seating 12 persons is the ideal venue for that small executive meeting or discussion group. This room is available upon request to residents of Soneva Fushi.

For those who need to surf (the worldwide web), we have two computer terminals available in our library for collection of e-mail and internet surfing. A guide to logging on is beside each computer so even a beginner can connect without any difficulty.

Providing a selection of easy reading and reference books, the library is open from 10h00 hours to 24h00 hours daily. Books are provided on a borrow and return basis for the enjoyment of all our guests. The library also has a large screen TV with satellite connection to provide a venue for watching those international sporting events.

- Sports & Activities 
During the day the full array of activities are available. And, once again, first class. When you go diving your equipment is put on the boat for you and later taken off and rinsed. Introduction dives and mini courses are offered, as well as full certification. As for the sites, they are numerous and in pristine condition, as this is, at the moment, the only resort in the Atoll. Sonevafushi's lagoon is terrific for snorkeling and always close to shore. The windsurfers and catamarans are free of charge. Big game fishing is offered and run by the former captain of the British Game Fishing Team. The catches are barbecued that evening. And champagne breakfasts, picnics and romantic sundowners on desert islands are there for the asking.
