A dream of island…why? Simply because Nika is a dream for those who dare to dream. Nika Island Resort is the only island in Maldives where you will find private beach in each bungalow.
Nika is a Dhivehi name for a certain shell of the Banyan Tree. The shell is their emblem and the resort is named after the tree. An enormous banyan tree grows in the middle of the island, clearing the rest of the canopy and plainly visible from out at sea. As a resort it is probably the most private of all. The simple reason for this is that there is only one path around the island and it is inside, behind the bungalows. with careful growth of bushes and trees one is unable to see the neighboring bungalows and it's quiet difficult to even visit them. There is an unspoken rule here that you do not cross this privacy boundary and means no jogging on the beach.

- Accomodation Overview
Each bungalow has its own private beach front. The price to pay for this is the sight of groynes. Almost every bungalow has two groynes either side of its plot. Some of these are low and unobtrusive walls, but others are large and frequent. On the other hand they are the best constructed and maintained groynes in the country. One surprise, on this classy resort is the beach furniture: white plastic chairs and white plastic loungers (though these have a cotton mattress cover).
The rooms were designed, like the whole island, by an Italian Architect. They are undoubtedly in the top few of all the resort rooms (We would like to put Sonevafushi's, Kuda Huraa's and Banyan Tree's up with them). It is not one round design but several curving spaces coming off each other., like the inside of a shell. The sitting room, bedroom and shower/washroom are all large. The shower/washroom itself is bigger than many resorts' bedroom and shower room together. There is no A/C (anywhere on the island) and it is completely unmissed with the abundant slatted windows, high roof and quiet ceiling fan.

Bungalows are built with coral and thatched with coconut leaves. Lattice windows make it possible the pleasant breeze to pass through making the inside of the bungalow cool.
Bathroom with a garden setting is almost of the size of a normal hotel room. Its original design created by an Italian architect is very impressive. Sitting room leads to your private beach where you will find a swing, beach lounges, table and chairs and an umbrella for shadow. You will also find open air showers in bungalows to make it more convenient for your comfort.
The bungalow is fitted with a huge bedroom and with it attached a, sitting room, and next a bathroom; all mixed up giving the looks of shell (size:70sqm)

SunSet Villa is 100sqm. It is perfect for families. It has the largest private beach with excellent snorkeling just few meters from the each. It is fully airconditioned and tastefully decorated and furnished with Local and Italian touch.
The only difference between these villas is that Sunset villas give you easer access to the wonderful house reef. The spacious detached villas boast white sandy private beach.

The new Water Villas over the northern reef edge have a surface of 100 sq.m each of them comprises 3 separate areas: bedroom, living room and bathroom with wardrobe and same facilities as Garden and Sunset villas. The uniqueness of these Water Villas is in their 3 split levels. The first and lowest just kisses the sea; the second one is a deck with real sand and deckchairs while the third, 2mt above the sea is the ideal deck from which to perfect an all-over tan. The beach is never far away, with a stretch of white sand by the water apartment's jetty.

Nika Island is sold on full board basis, with mineral water and soft drinks included during meals. Italian, international and ethnic cuisine is served buffet-style at lunch and “a la carte” at dinner, with a selection of over 60 wines.
- Main Restaurant
Friendly staff is willing to cater for your every wish. Maldivian buffet and barbecues are served twice a week. Home-made delicious ice-creams are also offered with meals.
The restaurant also boasts a deck where one can dine with candles, the twinkling stars and the waves rolling on to the beach.
Most of the food items and ingredients are imported directly from Italy.
- Coffee Shop
The coffee shop situated on the beach is where one can relax, have a delicious cocktail and listen to some lovely music or even better to the sound of waves and the wind rustling through the palm leaves.
Besides the serene atmosphere, the coffee shop also offers light snacks, ice cream and alcoholic beverages. The coffee shop is the ideal place to watch the sun go down after a lazy day basking in its brilliance. The golden hue spread across the sky and the passionate red reflected in the clouds is a sight not to be missed. This is truly the ultimate setting for a couple who loves romance.

There is no reception, but one enters from the main jetty into a lovely, curvy and comfortable lounge and bar. At the end of the other jetty is the restaurant, and fine dinning is outside on the deck. Dinning is, as expected, of the first class. Only the finest ingredients are imported. Breakfast and lunch are buffet, five of the evening meals are set, and two are barbecues on the beach. At any time, however, you may order in advance some dish you would particularly like and it will be prepared for you at no extra cost. The resort is a high end resort but once here you will not be surprised by a big bill for extras. For example; the telephone and fax charges are possibly the cheapest of any resort. Windsurfing and canoes are free and so are sunset fishing, tennis, badminton and bowls.

- Gardens
One of the most stunning beauties of this tiny paradise is perhaps its spectacular garden. A garden with lavish green, colorful and abundant flowers make Nika the perfect hideaway for romance and relaxation. With the countless number of coconut trees and other tropical plants, Nika is cooler by several degrees on sunny days than other islands where trees have been sacrificed for construction. The constant care and effort of our gardeners keep the vegetation of Nika as a true attraction.
An important part of the gardening is of course the cultivation of fruits such as banana and papaya, salads such as mustard (ruccola) and basil. Ruccola and basil are of course used to create authentic Nika dishes.
- Turtle Pond
A small pond with seawater circulation has been created for the purpose of raising baby turtles as part of our effort to see their numbers increase in the Maldivian waters.
Baby turtles are usually found from fishing villages. Sometimes they are even hatched on Nika itself. The chances of their survival are much better under our protection than out in the open sea. When the turtles are ready to go they are set free usually during the new year celebration.
Thanks to a government law passed few years ago, prohibiting the fishing of turtles, the sighting of turtles by tourists while snorkeling is on the rise.

Nika Island has a wonderful house reef, which can be explored by every level of diver. There are no currents, which are going to move you away from the reef. We have 15 dive sites around Nika, which can be reached in 10 to 30 minutes. The famous places, Maaya Tila (grey reef sharks and a outstanding variety of marine life) and Maalhos Tila (lightblue softcorals in caves and a coral garden) are frequently on the program an can be reached in one, respectively in one and a half hours. One of the high points around Nika is a reef, where huge manta rays can be seen nearly every day from the middle of December until the end of March.
Albatros Top Diving Nika Is A 5 Star Padi Gold Palm Resort diving centre. Well organized with international diving instructors and guides.

Sunset Fishing
Daily bottom-line fishing trips are organized. The trip leaved at 1900hrs and returns at 2100hrs. Red snappers, groupers, barracudas and many more are caught. All the fishing gear are supplied and friendly crew will help you to catch your fish. This is a perfect opportunity to watch the sunset while you combat against your catch.
Big Game Fishing
Big game is a special service offered by Nika for many years to the aficionados of fishing. There are boats equipped with combat chairs and fishing rods for you to enjoy a unique fishing experience. With experienced captain and crew, you are guaranteed to bring home a sizable beast from the Maldivian sea which is abundant with various types of fish. The trip begins at 0730hrs and returns at 1300hrs. Usual catches include wahoo, sail fish, barracuda and dolphin fish.

It is not expensive, compared to the branded resorts of Maldives. In here you will not be surprised by a big bill for extras. For example; the telephone and fax charges are possibly not the cheapest of any resort. Windsurfing and canoes are free and so are sunset fishing, tennis (with Flood LIT), badminton and bowls. And Maldivian staffs are ready to enjoy a game of volleyball with any willing guests.
- Leisure Activities
Enjoy walking along the beach, at Mathiveri Finolhu Island looking out at the wonderfully turquoise lagoon and feeling the soft white sands beneath your feet. It is an excellent trip for a couple as it ensures full privacy on a little island in the Indian ocean, similar to a Robinson Crusoe setting. Also it is an ideal setting for an aperitif at sunset.
