 -  Diving

Diving - Embudu Village Maldives      Diving is popular and enjoyable in Embudu. Popular because of the variety of great dive-sites nearby, and enjoyable because the dive base leaders and staff are particularly friendly and accommodating, as well as efficient.

Maldives most beautiful dive sites are visited by Diverland Embudu - 35 different divespots with boattrips of 1 hour maximum. Once you “found” the base, the fun part of your vacation can begin. For those who did not bring a snorkel or fins, don’t worry, at Diverland Embudu you can rent them. Diverland Embudu is also the right place for people who want to experience their first underwater experiences. Please join the resort course. In this course you will get acquainted with the basics of scuba diving. When you like it and I am sure you will, then the best is yet to come. Attend the Open Water Course. In about six days you will learn everything to have to know to become a “real” scuba diver.

After that you can make some great boat dives to all the beautiful spots Diverland Embudu offers. After signing in, divers can chose between “non-limit” diving or packages of 10 dives. Remember to bring your health certificate and your logbook. As the current can be rather tough, Diverland Embudu requires at least 30 logged dives before you are allowed to go “non-limit”. And believe me, that’s a rule you should stick too. Even diving the house reef we came into very strong currents and we were very glad we knew what to do and even more we knew what not to do. Besides Open Water Course Diverland Embudu offers more courses. The Advanced Open Water is one of them and one I enjoyed very much was the Nitrox Course.

The highlight for divers remains the underwater world, which you can explore very easily at Embudu. Why? Embudu is surrounded with a house reef within easy walking distance and drops to 30 meters. 24 hours a day you can choose from 6 different diving routes on the house reef. Already on the house reef you con see nearly everything the underwater world offers. From rays, sharks, moray to Napoleon, lobster, turtles and sometimes-even mantas nearly every meeting is possible. Who is interested in bizarre coral formations will find in the current free coral garden what he is looking for.

Of course we offer several boat trips per day to dive sites on the outside of the atoll. More than 35 of the most beautiful dive sites of the North- and South-Male-Atoll can be reached in 30 minutes to one hour by boat. Among them the famous Canyon, Cathedral and The Wall, the colourful Dragon’s Mouth or Lion’s Head that is mentioned in every guide book about the Maldives. We go to several cave dive sites such as the big Wadu Caves or the Vellassaru Caves as well as the big wreck Victory and the colourful, varied Potato Reef are regular on our program.

One of the highlights in everybody’s diver life is most probably the legendary Embudu Express, an “action drift dive” in the Embudu Channel, not even 10 minutes by boat away from Embudu. You can meet nearly any big fishes, reef sharks we can nearly guarantee. We are also organising full day trips with two dives and a visit of one or two other islands.

At us everybody gets his money’s worth: experienced divers, beginners or who wants to continue one’s training. With our PADI instructors you can make courses from the Open Water Diver up to the Divemaster and as a PADI 5 Star Centre we even have instructor training, which means IDC and IE. You can dive even with Nitrox or Rebreather or you can be trained on these systems.
